Titans Strong Fishing Tournament Raises Funds for Athletics

The inaugural Titan Strong Fishing Tournament, with all proceeds benefiting athletics at St. Petersburg College, set sail from Hubbard's Marina in Madeira Beach, Florida on August 26.

Captain Hubbard took 44 proud Titans fans nine miles off shore for a fantastic day of fishing. Hubbard's Marina provided rod, reel, tackle and a delicious boxed lunch. The winner of the  first Titan Strong Fishing Tournament was Bradley Krupp, he won a combo rod and reel for catching a 25 and a half inch grouper. Ramon Hernandez took second place, he won a brand new Calcutta cooler.

The tournament raised approximately $3,000 for Titan athletic programs. Athletic director Davie Gill called the tournament a huge success, and thanked Hubbard's Marina for hosting the event.

"I was really heartened by the support we received from faculty, staff, and students at the Titan Strong Fishing Tournament," said Gill.

The money raised by the tournament and donations support athletics at St. Petersburg College, including baseball, men's basketball, women's basketball, softball and volleyball teams both at home and at away games. St. Petersburg College has a proud tradition in athletics since 1927 – 90 years of athletics excellence.

Recently, the men's basketball team continued that tradition when they were crowned state champions for 2017, and the tennis team won their first ever national championship in doubles. Learn more about athletics at St. Petersburg College.
