Beckman announces Coaching Staff Changes

With the departure of Pitching Coach and Recruiting Coordinator Rob Marcello to take a position for his family in Orlando, FL.  Coach Beckman was tasked with replacing an up and coming recruiter and coach.  Having dug deep into his network it is with great pleasure St Petersburg College welcomes Stephanos Stroop and Chris Smith to the coaching staff.

"Coach Marcello was a key piece during the 2015 - 2016 season where the Titans baseball team went 34-21 earning second place honors in the competitive Suncoast Conference, returned to the State Tournament for the first time since 2010, and posted a team GPA of a 3.0.  Though we hate to see him go, we completely support and are proud of his decision which is in the best interest for his family.  He will be missed.",  Said Coach Beckman.

Stephanos Stroop was brought in as Pitching Coach and Recruiting Coordinator.  Stroop is a former NCAA Division 1 Pitching Coach and George Washington University.  He was the Manager of the Year in the historic Valley Collegiate League in 2015, and has an extensive backround with modern throwing practices, on top of being a former front office employee with the Washington Nationals, and a Associate Scout with the Atlanta Braves.  "Stephanos has a very impressive resume.  He has a history of working well with players from all walks of life, and has a very sharp eye for talent.  We are extremely lucky to have him on staff."   Said Coach Beckman when asked about his new pitching coach.

In addition, Chris Smith has come on board to run the offense and work with both the catchers and outfielders.  Chris is a former Division 1 athlete from Wagner College in Staten Island, New York where he was a member of the All-Conference team and led the Seahawks in Batting Average his senior year.  Coach Beckman had this to say about Coach Smith, "Chris is not only one of the young up and coming coaches in the prestigious state of Florida coaching network.  He is a tremendous young man who is humble, hard working, and a master of his craft." Smith joins the Titans in his second year of college coaching after spending the 2015 -2016 season with Marty Smith and the College of Central Florida.

The Titans kickoff their Fall Schedule September 10th in Auburndale Florida against the Chipola College Indians.
