Ryan was born and raised in Pinellas County and has been coaching in Pinellas County since 2004.
Beginning his coaching career as an assistant coach at his alma mater, Dunedin High School. While there, he helped lead the Falcons to their first state title in 44 years. Ryan became head coach in the fall of 2009 at Calvary Christian High School, where he laid the foundation for an up and coming program in Pinellas County.
Brought in to St. Petersburg College in the fall of 2010 as an assistant coach and Recruiting Coordinator a short time later he became Head Coach of the team in January, 2012. During his time with the Titans, he has seen several players move on both athletically and academically. Some of those players include sixth-round Draft Pick Sean Buckley, seventh-round Draft Pick Jon Mathews, 13th rounder Trey Amburgey, and 14th-round Pick Corbin Hoffner. Scholastically, Mike Lagrange to Florida Gulf Coast University, Tyler Shambora to the Univeristy of Virginia, Alex Deise to Florida State University, Jordan Savinon to the University of Central Florida, and Mike Sylvestri to Florida Atlantic University. Prior to Ryan's time with St. Petersburg College, he spent three years with the Toronto/Dunedin Blue Jays' front office, and another three years at the Winning Inning Baseball Academy.
After receiving his associate degree from St. Petersburg College, Ryan went on to earn his B.S. in Business Management from the University of South Florida and his Masters in Business Administration with a focus in Athletic Administration from Southern New Hampshire University. When he is not on a baseball field, Ryan enjoys golfing and spending time with his wife Kathi, their daughter Reese, and dog Zoe.
